Vespers for old Europe

As the sun sets over Europe, the seeds of the new age are already growing. It is for this whole land, and more, that we offer our evening prayer of thanksgiving.

'Old Europe' as in the Cold War divisions, perchance?

The old evangelisation has ended, the new has begun, and with it a new era of grace. The new Europe is now like the mustard seed, but what it will be in the future we cannot yet see.

Only one problem with that photo - it was obviously taken during the summer, since the angle of the greyline indicates that the area above the Arctic circle is in daylight. Now in February, the greyline should be the other way around (sorry to be a pedant, but Father Julian wouldn't expect any less of me).

I'll have my Zeppelin go up again with a different colour filter.

Its a wonderful way to think about the offering of the evening prayers Father. I think Fulton sheen described it best when he said "In the Chasuble the priest takes the whole with him to the alter, in the stole the priest takes those who believe, in the patten the priest offers us all in sacrifice". Awesome!!
